Celeste Wainwright, a 42 year old recalcitrant vicar with an array of chips on her shoulder, is assigned to a parish in an uncommonly dilapidated corner of Notting Hill following the death of her husband. After reluctantly accepting the job, she must return to the area she grew up in to revive a moribund local church that caters to approximately 3.5 equally wayward congregants — while struggling with her own faith, scuppered dreams and family trauma.
